High temperature spin Hall effect in topological insulator
نویسندگان
چکیده
Applications of spin–orbit torque (SOT) spintronic devices to automobile or space vehicles require a spin Hall material with high performance at temperature (>120 °C). However, the effect has been studied so far in many materials mostly from cryogenic room temperature. Here, we BiSb topological insulator up 125 °C. Although effective angle θSHeff monotonically decreases increasing temperature, maintains large 4.9 even °C, demonstrating capability for applications. Furthermore, temperature-dependence conductivity indicates that surface states are origin giant BiSb.

متن کاملSpin-Orbit Coupling in Polariton Graphene: Optical Spin Hall Effect and Z Topological Insulator
We show that the TE-TM splitting of planar cavities leads to a special type of spin-orbit coupling for polariton graphene, a honeycomb superstructure formed by pillar microcavities, transforming into an emergent field with Dresselhaus symmetry at the Dirac points of the Brillouin zone. This transformation can be evidenced by the Optical Spin Hall effect. Under an applied magnetic field, polarit...
متن کاملTopological spin texture in a quantum anomalous Hall insulator.
The quantum anomalous Hall (QAH) effect has been recently discovered in an experiment using a thin-film topological insulator with ferromagnetic ordering and strong spin-orbit coupling. Here we investigate the spin degree of freedom of a QAH insulator and uncover the fundamental phenomenon that the edge states exhibit a topologically stable spin texture in the boundary when a chiral-like symmet...
متن کاملOptically engineering the topological properties of a spin Hall insulator.
Time-periodic perturbations can be used to engineer topological properties of matter by altering the Floquet band structure. This is demonstrated for the helical edge state of a spin Hall insulator in the presence of monochromatic circularly polarized light. The inherent spin structure of the edge state is influenced by the Zeeman coupling and not by the orbital effect. The photocurrent (and th...
متن کاملStanene cyanide: a novel candidate of Quantum Spin Hall insulator at high temperature
The search for quantum spin Hall (QSH) insulators with high stability, large and tunable gap and topological robustness, is critical for their realistic application at high temperature. Using first-principle calculations, we predict the cyanogen saturated stanene SnCN as novel topological insulators material, with a bulk gap as large as 203 meV, which can be engineered by applying biaxial strai...
